It doesn't sound as abrasive in person as it does on here imo. If I saw him paint his door handles in person, I'd say "Or you could just sand them down with sandpaper. That restores the original finish." Basically, it's a way to fix the problem he mentioned without using garbage paint on a plastic surface that was never designed to hold paint.
